Well, so many notifications and emails can be seen for various discounts every day! As it is the season of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas-New Year sales, it is important to offer attractive discounts in your WooCommerce store as well. It is necessary as your competitors are rushing to give more discounts to shoppers to boost sales.
Not only for festive seasons, discounts always captivate potential customers. It is a bit boring and tedious to set price drops for each and every product in your shop manually. So the solution is to go for a discount plugin.
As you need to apply discounts for a bulk amount of products at one time, based on certain criteria and filters, you need to choose a plugin that satisfies all your requirements.
There are so many discounts and dynamic pricing plugins available for WooCommerce to apply bulk discounts. Some of them are premium versions and there are quite a few free version plugins as well. This article focuses on the free version plugin to apply bulk discounts in your store.
When Can You Choose a Basic Version Bulk Discount Plugin?
There could be many reasons to choose a basic version plugin. If you do not want to spend on plugins, or if you are planning to give discounts for the first time in your store, you can try out a basic version plugin.
And, if your store sells only simple products and very limited categories and all, you can opt for a free dynamic pricing plugin. If your store contains variable products and there are many categories and subcategories, it is better to upgrade to the premium subscription of the plugin or choose a premium version plugin.
If you need to add a variety of discounts such as combinational discounts and Buy One Get Free Offer (BOGO) in your store, you are required to choose a premium version plugin.
As I have mentioned, if you only require very limited features to apply discounts on products and categories, a robust basic version plugin is enough for your store.

A new tab will be opened wherein you can find 2 types of discount rules. They are:
- Product Rules
- Category Rules
Let us check how you can set up bulk discounts with these 2 discount rules.
Set Up Bulk Discount with Product Rules
As the name suggests, this rule is used to apply discounts based on the products in your store. You can apply discounts to individual products by entering their name, a single category, and all products in the shopping cart of the customers.
Note: You can only apply discounts to a single category of products. If you need to apply discounts to multiple categories of products, you can go for Category Rules.
You can apply discounts based on the minimum and maximum range of quantity, price, and weight of the products. And there are 3 types of discounts available to you. You can apply a percentage discount, flat or fixed price discount.
As we are discussing bulk discounts, let us take the example of applying discounts to all products in the cart.
Check out an example.
The name of the offer is ‘OFFER2020’. And I have set the minimum quantity of the products in the cart as 5 to be eligible for a 20% discount for all the products in the cart.
After saving the rule, the discount will reflect on the Cart page as in the below screenshot.
When the customer added 7 items to the cart, a 20% discount was applied to each product price.
The discount can be applied to specific customer roles, as well as with specific dates for the commencement and expiry of the discount.
Now let us check how to apply discounts on multiple product categories with Category Rules.
Set Up Bulk Discount with Category Rules
Click Discount Rules-> Category Rules -> Add New Rule.
Category Rule is similar to Product Rule, and the only difference is that you can apply a percentage, fixed, or flat price discount on multiple categories at a time. You can apply the discount based on the number of items, total units, weight, and price of the products.
Check out an example.
In this example, I have chosen the Albums, Clothing, Hoodies, and Music categories. If the price is a minimum of $10 of the products under those categories, they will be eligible for a fixed price discount of $5.
This will reflect on the Shop page and product page by setting $5 for all products that are worth a minimum of $5.
Check the example in the below screenshot.
This is how you can apply bulk discounts with ELEX WooCommerce Dynamic Pricing and Discounts Free Plugin.
